Childhood- A crucial part of person’s life!!

Brief about childhood

We have often seen nowadays children also suffers from anxiety, stress and depression. There can be multiple reasons for these problems. Either the child had suffered from some trauma or in addition  sometimes there can be some issues relating to parenting styles.

In a child’s life parents play an important role. If  parents did a good conditioning of their child, he will never face any of such issues and  his chances of becoming successful person in life will increase automatically.

On the other hand if the parents are manipulative or toxic, who compare their child with others or use inappropriate words for them are moreover likely to be suffer from depression or get detached from their family.

To avoid these problems in a child, child psychology was discovered to help kids live their life happily. Childhood is essential part of a person’s life if the conditioning by his parents or teachers have been done correctly between the age of 2-10 years,  the child would become a wonderful person in his life.

If this crucial age is taken lightly then the person will suffer later in his adulthood. Children should be raised with good values, manners, he should have affection towards his parents and he should learn to help others.

What Is Child Psychology?

Child psychology is the study of subconscious and conscious childhood development. Child psychologists observe how a child interacts with their parents, themselves, and the world, to understand their mental development.

Does childhood needs to be guided?

Everyone wants their child to have healthy development, but it’s not always clear if a child’s behaviour is a symptom of a normal stage in development or a sign of an abnormality.

Child psychologists can help you understand the difference. Understanding the normal and abnormal psychological patterns of a child can help parents understand how to best communicate and connect with their child, teach their child coping mechanisms for managing emotions, and help their child progress and thrive in each new developmental stage.

Child psychologists can also identify abnormal behaviours early; help detect the root of common behavioural issues such as learning issues, hyperactivity, or anxiety, and help children work through early childhood trauma. On the other hand they can also help to prevent, evaluate, and diagnose developmental delays or abnormalities such as autism.

Parenting styles:-

Childhood is a like a preserve stage of a child. If the child is taken care correctly the results will be outstanding or if not the child may suffer in his later years. There are 4 types of parenting styles:-

  1. Authoritarian parents-The authoritarian parenting style is about being strict and stern. It insists on unquestioning obedience, and enforces good behaviour through threats, shaming, and other punishments. As defined by psychologists, to clarify this  style associated with less parental warmth and responsiveness.
  2. Authoritative parents-The authoritative parenting style is an approach to child-rearing that combines warmth, sensitivity, and the setting of limits. Kids raised by authoritative parents are more likely to become independent, self-reliant, socially accepted, academically successful, and well-behaved.
  3. Permissive parents-Permissive parenting is a type of parenting style characterized by low demands with high responsiveness. Permissive parents tend to be very loving, yet provide few guidelines and rules. In addition  these parents do not expect mature behaviour from their children.  In short they often seem more like a friend than a parental figure.
  4. Uninvolved and Neglectful parents- Uninvolved parenting, sometimes referred to as neglectful parenting, is a style characterized by a lack of responsiveness to a child’s needs. Uninvolved parents make few to no demands of their children and they are often indifferent, dismissive, or even completely neglectful.
